End of Year Letter to Friends
November 2009

I want to thank the people that are part of our label. They have stuck beside me while we battled with cancer and the Lord is giving us a great victory over that. Also I have been dealing with a thing called reactive arthritis. Ankylosing Spondylitis is the medical name for it. It has disabled me in ways I would have never thought possible but I am not able to do anything that put stress on the joints or muscles in my body. Soul Joy has been shut down pretty much on my end since early 2008 and will be nearly two years soon. I have been available by phone and occasional writing but I cannot do outreach concerts nor work in front of a computer for any real length of time. I fall asleep nearly every time I turn around. My wife drives me over any long distance as a safety measure. I take a very large amount of pain killers. 10 vicadin, two celebrix and 6 methadone a day. So needless to say it only takes sitting for a short period to knock me out. I want to make this public because, as a Christian, we have to hold on to our faith. I also believe it is important to have others know what your prayer needs are. I have enjoyed working with the Lord for 10 years as Soul Joy Records. We have never made any money just like so many of you have never really made money. You do this because you love people and you want them to have the very best and that is Jesus Christ. I will continue to look to the Lord for my healing and believe that someday I will be set free from the arthritis that has a hold of me. Cancer is almost gone and I really do appreciate the Lord giving me life. I hold on to the scripture "I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. Psalm 118:17 I want to tell anyone who fights for there life along side of their God and savior Jesus Christ to hold onto and trust Him who’s name is above all names. You will have the victory because it is promised by God in His word.
That is about it for now. I hope to be out someday working the fields with my sound equipment and bands but for now I have the bands that are committed to minister through music to look up to and praise God for. That includes not only the ones with the Soul Joy Records label but all bands and people who see their music as ministry and not entertainment.

In February of 2008 David Kelsey got the news that he was fighting reactive arthritis and to add to that came the diagnosis of bladder cancer which in 8 months or so it got into the lymph nodes. It was grade 3 and really scared him. No matter how strong you are, that word cancer, is a really bad word to hear. Now in 2009 David and his wife Brenda have been speaking words of life over his body and seeking God's face daily for a complete healing. The real kicker to all of this is that Brenda is in the healing ministry. She loves to lay hands on the sick and see the miracle of God's love manifest through healing. The battle has been hard on both of them and they really want an end to the sickenss in David's body. When they were presented with the diagnosis they sought the Lord as to what to do. MD Anderson is in Houston and so is Dr Bersynski's clinic. He does targeted therapy. The last two reports from the pet scans and heart scans have been really great. The first one showed a 35.7% reduction in cancer in David's body and the cancer that was left was silent. The next tests after another 10 weeks of treatment showed no change. So right now in July we are in our third round of treatments. If you would please pray for strength for Brenda and healing for David it would be really appreciated. There are talks of doing a fund raiser to help defer the expenses pay back some, if not all, of the money that was needed to start working  our way through this. That is in the Lord's hand at this time and we believe that He is able to provide more than we dreamed or hoped for. Linda with Southern Bells Productions has volunteered to get this together. We will post information concerning that as soon as we know anything. 
David believes that God has already touched him and all he needs is the manifestation of the victory in Jesus. God is so very good to him and his love for God is evident in his life.
